COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nonprofit Wish Granters expanded into Boise County and is accepting wish referrals to help terminally ill adults. The organization hit its 2025 fundraising goal and plans further expansion across Idaho (supporting community care).  KTVB
  • Today at the Capitol, leaders host Early Learning Day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with breakfast (8 to 10:30 a.m.), while Hubbard Rd. in Kuna is closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work and BSU men play Nevada at ExtraMile Arena at 7 p.m.  KIVI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Idaho Black Community Alliance is hosting Black History Month events this February to celebrate culture and support Black business and youth leadership. Founder Trish Walker said the nonprofit works year-round to bring the community together across the state.  KTVB
  • Presented by IFAA, the free Love Wins event will feature hip-hop artist Wins and students performing on Feb. 5 at JUMP, with the performers discussing themes of self + family love and hope for the future.  KTVB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Columbia High School, special education students run Cool Cat Brew, a coffee shop where they build real job skills while preparing beverages for staff and visitors. The program transitions students from classroom routines to workplace responsibilities with structured recipes and shift rotations.  KIVI
  • Girls on the Run spring program (for 3rd to 5th grade girls) is open for registration with sessions running Mar. 2 to May 2; the program aims to build confidence, foster friendships and keep kids active.  KTVB
