COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Idaho Potato Commission announced that pieces from Haute Potato, a custom collection by local designer Cartier Dior Eliasen, will be auctioned soon to raise funds for No Kid Hungry + the initiative aims to combat childhood hunger.  KIVI
  • Construction crews have closed the Barber Park Greenbelt for upgrades until mid-May. Tonight, the Idaho Outdoor Association hosts a Mardi Gras Fundraiser Feast from 6 to 10 p.m. — local firefighters run a Tap Takeover at Payette Brewing Co. from 6 to 9 p.m.  KIVI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Idaho lawmakers introduced a bill in the House Education Committee on Monday that would require public schools to start on the Tuesday after Labor Day to help families plan vacations and boost tourism; the committee unanimously voted to print the bill and it will next move forward for a full hearing.  KIVI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Overnight, a northern resort got over a foot of snow while central and western sites received 8 to 12 inches, and consistent winter weather is expected for 10 days (skiers should exercise caution due to an Avalanche Warning for Galena Summit and the Eastern Mountains).  KIVI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Saint Alphonsus Health System announced plans to double its Nampa hospital with 254,000 sqft of new space and 64 beds. It will also build an 80,000 sqft medical center in North Meridian + begin groundbreaking in June and Spring 2026, with completions in Fall and Spring 2028.  KTVB
  • Health officials in Idaho are investigating nine raw milk-linked illnesses from a Caldwell dairy after two children were hospitalized with serious E. coli complications. The dairy has ceased production while testing continues and experts warn that raw milk health claims do not match scientific evidence.  KIVI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bogus Basin received over 10 inches of fresh powder overnight, and local riders enjoyed Tuesday's conditions on newly opened front-side trails. The resort expects to open backside lifts by the weekend to offer more terrain after a challenging season.  KIVI
