CULTURE NEWS

  • The Harp Irish Pub in Meridian offers Irish food, drinks, and live music with daily homemade soda bread and trivia events. Owner Jamie Deal says visitors enjoy local brews + a welcoming community spirit, especially around St. Patrick’s Day weekend.  KIVI
  • Idaho News 6 Senior Reporter Don Nelson is set to be inducted into the Silver Circle Honor Society on May 29, 2026 in Seattle — a rare first-ballot honor that marks his 32-year career in broadcast journalism in Treasure Valley.  KIVI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Drivers in Nampa saw gas prices climb to $3.79, a jump of 10 cents overnight. At a Boise station, prices increased 14 cents & AAA noted that rising crude oil costs continued to pressure the supply chain.  KIVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Diesel prices near $5 a gallon may force Nampa Fire to cut non-emergency driving and delay new apparatus purchases — Chief Jed Simpson said the department already uses bulk rates and on-site storage to manage costs. The team will keep fuel above 3/4 of a 50-gallon tank to ensure readiness.  KIVI
  • The Idaho Senate passed HB 623 that will require K-12 teachers to lead a 60-second silent period (for reflection, meditation, prayer, or another silent activity) at the start of each school day. Pending the governor’s signature, it will take effect July 1.  KIVI
  • The House voted Tuesday morning to kill a bill that would have allowed the state to track invasive roof rats in the Treasure Valley + plan abatement measures to prevent property damage. Lawmakers argued that controlling the pest should be a local matter instead.  KIVI

HEALTH NEWS

  • In March, Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Nampa’s Digestive Health Clinic reminds residents to schedule a colonoscopy screening to detect pre-cancerous polyps. Residents 45 and older or with concerning symptoms (abdominal pain, weight loss, or blood in stool) should consult their primary care provider.  KTVB

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Idaho Vandals will face Houston in their first NCAA Tournament game since 1990 on Thursday, March 19 at 7:10 p.m. (PST) on TBS. The team earned its spot by winning the Big Sky Tournament after beating Montana in Boise.  KTVB
  • At the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina, Idaho athletes have won five gold medals, tying with Illinois, with one athlete (Adicoff) earning four gold medals. Nampa’s Josh Sweeney helped secure another gold in the mixed 4x2.5km relay.  KTVB
