- ➤ A new nonprofit organization was established to honor fallen Deputy Tobin Bolter by offering scholarships to students pursuing careers in law enforcement, public service and biblical studies while supporting wounded officers and first responders. The nonprofit will join Idaho Gives 2025 from April 28 to May 1 — working with Bolter’s family to guide its scholarship committee. KTVB
- ➤ Roaring Springs introduced a giant movie screen at its Wave Pool stage on Thursday to offer free summer film nights for pass holders—10 family movies will be shown on Saturdays between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This new feature adds to the park’s recent upgrades that include new slides and expanded water play areas. - ➤ Governor Brad Little signed Senate Bill 1208 to give Idaho $23 million for foster care and extend voluntary care to age 23. The state will hire 63 new staff beginning June 8 — pending an increase from the current 94 to a required ratio of 100 foster families to 100 children — to improve care for foster youth. KBOI
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will join Sen. Bernie Sanders at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa on Monday, April 14 as part of the national Fighting Oligarchy tour, which will focus on corporate influence. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. (the speech begins at 6 p.m.) KTVB
- ➤ Boise State School of Public Policy’s survey shows Idahoans want higher teacher pay and tax relief with teachers getting raises from $1.05 to $1.55 an hour and a $5000 tax rebate for education expenses — key points that guided lawmakers this session. The survey also found that 53% oppose using tax dollars for private or religious schools and almost half say it is hard to get health care — a subject Dr. May will study next year. KTVB
