Good morning, Nampa. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 15th of April.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Governor Brad Little vetoed part of House Bill 482 on Monday to keep the state's emergency funds ready for unexpected issues — such as border security and drug crises. He said moving funds from the Emergency Fund to the General Fund from July 1 to June 30 would slow Idaho's ability to respond fast to emergencies.  KIVI
  • The Nampa Police K-9 unit received an $8,000 check from the Lizard Butte Kennel Club at its annual dog show held at O’Connor Field in Caldwell on Friday. The funds will support further training for the unit.  Idaho Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Idaho Urologic Institute now offers high-intensity focused ultrasound — a new prostate cancer treatment that uses heat energy to target cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. Urologist Nicholas Kuntz said the less invasive procedure works best for low and intermediate risk cases and may lessen side effects compared to conventional surgery.  KTVB
  • Idahoans in Nampa are advised to take preventive measures against ticks while enjoying the outdoors—tick season lasts year-round. Dr. Norman from Ada Animal Hospital explains effective ways to protect both people and pets.  KTVB
