  • Treasure Valley lifeguards warn residents not to swim in irrigation canals as rising water levels bring fast, cold currents that may trap even strong swimmers. Boise police officer Eduardo Moreno said the canals are meant for farming—hidden undercurrents have caused past incidents, including a child's death last year, and he urged residents to call the police if they see someone swimming.  KTVB

  • Tractor Supply Company began construction today on its first Northwest distribution center in Nampa—an 865,000 sq ft facility that will create local jobs by 2026.   • Tractor Supply Company broke ground on a $225 million distribution center in Nampa that is expected to create more than 500 full-time jobs in the Treasure Valley—officials said the project will boost local employment soon.  KTVB

CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested driver Jonathan Dowdy, 32—charged with manslaughter, reckless endangerment and DUI—after he drove his truck into a bus carrying members of the Umpqua Community College softball team on Friday, killing Nampa native Kiley Jones, 19, and coach Jami Strinz while eight others were treated for injuries.  KBOI

  • Three crew members from the future USS Idaho are visiting Treasure Valley this week—meeting locals at events such as a ceremonial signing with Gov. Brad Little on Tuesday and an advance screening and reception at the Egyptian Theater today—and they will conclude their visit with a public reception at the Warhawk Museum in Nampa on Thursday.  KTVB
