COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Ten organizations in southwest Idaho have received a share of $280K in grants from the Idaho Women's Charitable Foundation (IWCF), which has run its collective giving program since 2001, supporting local community initiatives.   • Domino’s driver Dan Simpson—nicknamed Dan the Pizza Man after fetching a Diet Coke when his store ran out—is celebrated by Domino’s and Coca-Cola with a free 20oz. beverage promotion using code DANTHEMAN from April 30—May 3, following a viral TikTok video that sparked a tip fund for him.  KBOI

CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies investigated a reported threat at Victory Charter School on Wednesday at around 9:45 a.m., working with administrators to contact parents and interview students while officials state no active threat remains.  KBOI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Idaho increased by one dollar from a year ago, with AAA reporting that regular unleaded now costs $4.33 per gallon compared with $3.33 last year and $4.09 a month ago. The change is linked to instability from the war in Iran.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal restructure may affect more than 100+ Forest Service employees in Idaho as the agency shifts key roles from Washington D.C. to Salt Lake City, possibly forcing relocations or new job searches. Local union leaders warn that the change could hamper forest management and fire resiliency.  KBOI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Kristina Brown of St. Luke’s Health System explained that allergies, which cause itchy eyes and a runny nose, differ from colds that bring fatigue and cough, especially as tree pollen levels are high in Boise. She recommends antihistamines and nasal sprays for relief amid a prolonged allergy season.  KTVB
