GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Governor Brad Little signed a bill on April 15 that bans soda and candy from SNAP purchases — the change is meant to encourage better nutrition by aligning SNAP with programs like WIC. The bill will take effect on July 1 if the USDA approves a waiver, although critics say its broad definitions could unintentionally exclude items like granola bars.  KTVB
  • Nampa is planning a roundabout at Northside Boulevard and Karcher Road—next to the Amalgamated Sugar factory—to improve traffic flow for nearly 29,000 daily vehicles recorded in 2024; the project will cost $6.12 million with funds from a $5.47 million grant and will start construction in 2026.  KTVB
