- ➤ 477 nonprofits across Idaho face $643 million in federal funding cuts that may force service reductions, layoffs, and canceled programs—one group already had to let an employee go and stop a tribal youth program. Many are turning to donations through Idaho Gives—Idaho’s largest giving campaign, open until May 1 at midnight—to help cover the gap. KTVB
- ➤ The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will stock over 390,000 rainbow trout statewide in May to boost family-friendly fishing opportunities at numerous locations, including Esther Simplot Pond in Nampa. Anglers need a fishing license while children under 14 may fish for free — the agency plans a broad rollout to improve access for all skill levels. KTVB
- ➤ Today, Idaho Gives begins its largest fundraising campaign for non-profits with a Spin-A-Thon running until 1 p.m. and one lane of Hwy 95 between Council and New Meadows reopens after a landslide closed the road on March 16th—while a free Homeschool Day at the WaterShed in Boise allows families to join the City Nature Challenge as crews work to open both lanes by summer. - ➤ Three Treasure Valley cities—Kuna, Eagle and Star—may face higher policing service costs next year as the Ada County Sheriff's Office plans to slowly end the 7% discount set over 20 years to share resources. City leaders say that although the change will raise rates, the full police support remains a key benefit as they discuss new terms. KTVB
- ➤ Public transportation in Nampa faces potential cuts as city officials review four options—maintaining, increasing, reducing, or eliminating service—and residents will have the chance to share feedback at Nampa Public Library on May 6.
