- ➤ Two Northwest Nazarene University students created a life skills program at Marsing Middle School to help 10 to 15 students learn coping skills and build confidence. The program has met biweekly since November — data shows that 90% of students now use new coping strategies and 85% report increased confidence. KIVI

- ➤ Nampa fire officials warn residents to check smoke detectors as summer heat raises fire risks—experts say working alarms can cut the chance of fire deaths. They advise monthly inspections, yearly battery changes, and replacing units every 10 years to keep homes safe. KTVB
- ➤ Idaho and the U.S. Department of Energy signed a waiver on April 24 that temporarily suspends parts of the 1995 Settlement Agreement to allow limited shipments of spent nuclear fuel to the Idaho National Laboratory for research purposes. The waiver—subject to strict oversight and funding conditions—permits shipments from commercial reactors and university partners through 2032. KTVB
- ➤ Idaho Governor Brad Little toured the State Police forensic lab on Tuesday as part of National Fentanyl Awareness Day — the lab quickly checks drugs used in fentanyl cases — and said a second lab is planned because the current one is often busy.
