  • Garden City's Barkitecture fundraiser is hosting a competition where 15 groups design pet structures that will be judged on May 31 at CLUBHOUND while raising funds for local shelters—Paws Rescue, Boise Bully Breed—and Lake Lowell Animal Shelter and supporting a push to recognize interior design as a profession in Idaho.  KTVB

  • Tuesday’s consolidated election in Canyon County saw voters approve school levies while a bond measure for Middleton failed. These decisions will affect funding for local school districts in the coming months.  Idaho Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Transportation Department announced construction on the future State Highway 16 and Ustick Road Interchange will begin Tuesday, May 27; Ustick Road will be closed from Owyhee Storm Avenue to McDermott Bypass until late August. The work will widen the road and connect ramps — temporary signals are set at Cherry/McDermott and Ustick/Can-Ada — to maintain access for nearby homes.  KBOI
  • Idaho law enforcement is preparing for the '100 Deadliest Days' that follow Memorial Day—when increased activity in the Treasure Valley may lead to more incidents. Officials will boost patrols and monitoring during holiday celebrations to keep the community safe.  Idaho Press
