Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 27th of May.
Good morning, Nampa.
On Tuesday, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a new temple site in Caldwell on a 19.2-acre plot at the southwest corner of West Orchard Avenue and South Florida Avenue.
The multi-story building will cover 82,000 sqft, include a meeting house and ancillary building, and become the 11th temple in Idaho.
The City of Nampa will host a free water-training activity Saturday as schools let out in Treasure Valley; rising temperatures and longer daylight hours prompt the event to boost water safety skills.
Tuesday night, the Nampa Planning and Zoning Commission considered Amazon’s proposal for a drone hub near Franklin Road.
The plan could add 30 local jobs — a boost for the community — and feature drones delivering small packages during daytime hours using detect and avoid technology.
ITD admitted that the new I-84 lane markings near the Idaho Center Boulevard exit confused drivers last week—and the department responded over Memorial Day weekend by replacing them with clearer dashed lines and construction barrels.
Crews will refine the markings further Thursday while a full repave is expected soon.
