  • Boise tattoo shop owners Dave and Mariah Aslett are offering free memorial tattoos to grieving parents after losing their baby, believing the healing power of art helps unite the community—especially for those coping with loss. One local parent, Kyla Guest, said she chose a Lotus flower tattoo to honor her daughter Kyanne, whose memorial will be built at Midland—Roosevelt to remind drivers to be careful.  KTVB
  • Treasure Valley Family YMCA in Caldwell and Wilder is offering free breakfast and lunch to all children under 18 during the summer, serving meals Monday through Friday to ensure kids get nutritious food during school breaks. The program requires no registration or income verification—children must eat on-site in Caldwell while meals at Wilder can be taken off-site.  KTVB
  • Today the City of Nampa begins chip sealing on 15 road sections and two roundabouts from Happy Valley Rd to Southside Blvd with detour routes and digital signs in place. This evening residents can visit the Meridian Night Market with local vendors and food trucks from 4 p.m.—9 p.m. and attend live reptile shows in Boise at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. through June 5.  KIVI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Idaho Power is proposing rate hikes for next year, with residential power rates rising 17% and overall energy costs increasing 13.09%—an adjustment that would add $199.1 million if approved by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission.  Idaho Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The U.S. Department of Labor announced a phased pause at Nampa's Centennial Job Corps Center due to poor performance and a growing deficit, which forces 70 students to leave by a June 30 deadline+ new enrollments have been halted. Center director Traci Jones said the move denies students the chance to complete their training and risks harming local workforce development as state and local partners plan to support affected youth.  KTVB

  • Idaho fire crews deployed to Canada Monday, June 2 to support wildfire suppression efforts under a longstanding mutual aid agreement with northwestern neighbors. The Teakean Crew brought specialized equipment and experience to help protect land and communities — setting up future reciprocal support for wildfire emergencies.  KTVB
