COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, Friends of the Boise Public Library hold a June Book Sale at the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. while Nampa High School hosts the Special Olympics Idaho State Summer Games with a kickoff at 4 p.m., and free concerts return to Kleiner Park tonight with 'Dark Desert Highway' playing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.—the summer series continues every other Friday until August 15.  KIVI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kuna High School Wind Ensemble returned from Anaheim where over 40 students performed in the Disney Imagination Campus program and recorded music in a professional Disney studio under a Disney sound engineer—students played classical and cinematic pieces and gained firsthand experience with professional scoring.  KTVB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Nampa began chip sealing several roads this week to extend their lifespan by 7 to 10 years. The work employs 22 people and is operated by José Guardián—who advises drivers to slow down during this process that will finish on August 29.  KTVB

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Idaho Humane Society gave advice for pet owners in the Treasure Valley as temperatures rise, urging residents to walk dogs early and provide cool spots at home — they also warned against leaving pets in hot cars by noting signs such as panting and wide eyes. The society will host a Dog Days of Summer adoption sale for dogs one year or older and is seeking new foster homes.  KBOI
