Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 12th of June.
Good morning, Nampa.
The Snake River Stampede runs from June 16 to 20 at the Ford Idaho Center and still uses a historic cavalry barn in Nampa (built in the 1900s) to store rodeo memorabilia, preserving the area’s western heritage.
The barn, once used by cavalry and later for rodeo stock, links today’s festivities to its past.
On Thursday, June 11, the Idaho Transportation Department shifted lanes on Karcher Road at Lake Avenue as flaggers directed traffic at 10 p.m. One lane in each direction with dedicated left-turn lanes was maintained until the new pattern was set, and additional shifts and pedestrian detours are planned later this summer as the five-lane project will be completed in 2028.
In Idaho, law permits riding unrestrained in pickup truck beds, except children under 7 must use a seat or booster seat.
The rule, rooted in the state's agricultural history, allows truck bed travel even on highways at 65 mph — a practice that remains part of local tradition.
