GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • West Valley Humane Society in Caldwell warned it will reduce services or close if Caldwell, Nampa and Canyon County do not boost their contracts with hikes starting in October; the shelter’s funding requests would raise Caldwell’s payment from about $68,000 to $540,000, Nampa’s from about $83,000 to $720,000 and Canyon County’s from about $200,000 to $240,000—its board treasurer stressed that current payments do not cover basic wages.
