  • Wild Hearts, a local non-profit, will offer free outdoor adventures like rafting, backpacking, camping and rock climbing for girls this summer + it will also host the Wild River Dash, a family-friendly paddle/run duathlon in August.  KTVB

BUSINESS NEWS

  • JTS and Mission Critical Group opened their $55 million advanced manufacturing facility Tuesday in Nampa, creating 140 new jobs for the area. The 172,000-square-foot plant uses smart machines to build backup power systems for hospitals and data centers and will boost nationwide production capacity.  KTVB

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, the 110th Snake River Stampede is underway at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa as it runs through Saturday, June 21. The event honors western heritage and Idaho cowboy culture — featuring rodeo events that originated from a bucking contest at the Nampa Harvest Festival.  KIVI
  • Salvador Alamilla, chef and co-owner of Amano in Caldwell, received the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Mountain region — which covers Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming — for his work in traditional Mexican cooking inspired by Southern California, Michoacán, and Oaxaca.  KTVB
  • Ellie Daniels was crowned Miss Idaho 2025 on Saturday and she said she will represent all Idahoans—promising to take on her new responsibilities in the coming year.  KTVB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Boise Fire Wildfire Captain Garrett Kirpach said homeowners should start early spring preparation to protect their houses from fast, wind-driven wildfires sparked by cheatgrass and sage—trimming trees six feet away and removing wood fences near homes can help lower the risk. He added that wildfire season will start in early July and run through the end of October, and free home assessments are available to guide mitigation efforts.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling announced this week that she will not run for a third term in the upcoming 2025 election. She led the city since 2017, managing rapid growth with over 20,000 new residents — and a 28% drop in crime — but did not give a reason for her decision.  KIVI
