- ➤ West Valley Humane Society canceled its contracts with Canyon County, Caldwell and Nampa unless it receives an extra $1.5 million to cover rising costs and an increased population—this measure is needed to keep its shelter open, which may shut by January if funds are not raised. - ➤ The Bureau of Land Management announced that the estimated containment of the 26,922-acre Range Fire is delayed until 6 p.m. today after burning since July 31—fire crews are working to reinforce containment lines while a temporary closure keeps public access to the affected lands restricted. - ➤ Idaho Governor Brad Little announced Friday that wildland firefighters and support staff received one-time bonuses up to $5,000 as part of a $1 million bonus package—more than 300 employees benefit with permanent foremen receiving the highest amount while seasonal workers receive smaller bonuses.
