Good morning, Nampa. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 3rd of September.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • City officials are considering transferring the Ford Idaho Center to the College of Western Idaho, but contractual obligations guarantee the Snake River Stampede continues its 110-year tradition at the venue. Leaders will work over the coming months to finalize the decision and protect the event’s future.  KIVI
  • Nampa is set to host its 2nd annual music festival at Lloyd Square on Friday, September 5 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event will feature live music from local artists, food trucks, vendors — and other entertainment.  KBOI
  • Morgan Escolme Wissel returned to Nampa to run Wissel Farms where pumpkins and sweet corn serve local customers, and she brings big city marketing skills to help the century-old farm face economic pressures—showing that the next generation can keep family farming alive.  KTVB
  • The Idaho Humane Society is seeking a home for Ethel, a loving dog who enjoys walks and treats, and she does best as the only dog in a household (she is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines).  KTVB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Idaho remains one of the fastest growing states with residents worried about the influx of newcomers, especially in the Treasure Valley where cities like Eagle and Caldwell see many moves due to affordable living despite rising housing costs—U.S. News and World Report data placed Idaho 5th in relocation searches. The key question is how to manage this growth as it continues to change local communities.  KTVB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish & Game will stock 75,000 catchable rainbow trout into waterways across Idaho this September to boost fishing at easy access and family-friendly sites. In the Southwest Region, the agency will stock over 12,000 trout in ponds and rivers such as those in Meridian and will drop about 2,600 trout along the Boise River from Barber Dam to Middleton.  KIVI
