  • Today BSU Football hosts Eastern Washington at 7 p.m. as veteran quarterback Maddux Madsen leads the team to rebound from a tough loss — the game will stream on Fox Sports. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Jeremiah Tilford, a 19-year-old from Caldwell, died in a fatal traffic accident in Kuna Thursday morning when his 1992 Honda Accord moved into the opposite lane to pass and collided with a Ford Edge and a Toyota Camry—two drivers and one passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.  KBOI

CRIME NEWS

  • Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced that the ICAC Unit arrested three men for allegedly possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material from September 1 to September 5—Vanu Barrett of Cassia County was charged with 10 counts while Canyon County's Donovan Dillon and Daniel Whiteley faced charges for possession and distribution offenses.  KBOI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Island Creek fire, a major source of smoke in the Treasure Valley, burned 14,474 acres and was 5% contained after it sparked from lightning on July 31 in the remote Moose Creek Ranger District about 11 miles from Elk City as 268 firefighters worked to protect structures in the Selway River Corridor. Road and trail closures remain in effect and a cold front is forecast to bring showers today through Sunday—potentially slowing the fire's spread.  KIVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, hundreds gathered at the state veterans cemetery to dedicate a bronze memorial honoring Idaho women veterans and pay tribute to Cpl Carrie French, the first Idaho woman killed in combat who died in a roadside bombing in Iraq in 2005. The memorial was moved from Caldwell to ensure permanent care—ensuring all female soldiers receive lasting recognition.  KTVB
