COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mission 43 will host a 5K run on September 11 at Ann Morrison Park to honor fallen American lives and bring the community together. The run comes as new directors take charge at Mission 43 and the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse (including veteran supporter Dan McGurkin and former Army officer Andy Johnson) to strengthen local veteran support.  KIVI

CRIME NEWS

  • Police in Nampa shot a man carrying a knife on Sept. 5 after he failed to follow commands and took him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries—Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the case.  KTVB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Caldwell educator Dr. Melyssa Ferro was named Idaho's winner of the 2026 Travelers Award for Teaching Excellence for her work in science teaching and community leadership—her second win since 2018 at Syringa Middle School.  KTVB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Canyon County + Nampa and Caldwell announced that they will ask for bids on animal shelter contracts instead of renewing with West Valley Humane Society. The new bidding process will change how animal services are provided in the area.  Idaho Press
