  • Nampa police shot and wounded a man armed with a knife on Friday night—he was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.  Idaho Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jeff Paradis from Ridgevue High School and Kadin Thompson-Bailey, a Boise State student, won Drum Corps International world championships—a big achievement for Idaho marching music. Thompson-Bailey hopes to make this experience easier for more kids to join in the future.  KIVI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Idaho homebuyers saw relief when the 30-year fixed mortgage rate dropped to 6.29% on Friday—marking the lowest level in more than a year and roughly saving buyers $200 per month on a median-priced home in Boise. Experts advised buyers to act now while they still have stronger negotiating power.  KTVB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Boise’s Discovery Center of Idaho is expanding its facility to add interactive exhibits and increase space for student field trips, and it has raised over half of its $6.4 million goal through community donations. The center will debut its new 'Going Places' exhibit on September 15 — offering a modern hands-on science experience to students across the Treasure Valley.  KTVB

  • Canyon County, Nampa, and Caldwell have decided to put the animal services contract for West Valley Humane Society up for bid after disagreements over payments and financial strain — officials said the shelter can reapply with its best offer.
