CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Discovery Center of Idaho opened the 'Going Places' exhibit on Sept. 15 and it will run until January 2026—showing 17 displays and eight kiosks created with Scitech Museum and Imagine Exhibitions to explore transportation history. Visitors learned about interactive items such as airships, planes, bicycles and hovercraft that reveal how travel technology has evolved. KTVB
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Mortgage rates have dropped a little to an average of 6.35%, but experts say the decrease does not make it easier for many first-time buyers in Ada County to secure a home. They recommend taking a homebuyer education course—called Finally Home from Idaho Housing and Finance—to learn how to save for a down payment, get help with closing costs, and find trusted lenders. - ➤ The Nampa City Council on Monday declared the Ford Idaho Center underutilized in a 4-2 vote and set a $75 million minimum bid for a potential sale. A public hearing on Oct. 6 will let residents share their views on whether to sell, convey, or keep the property. KIVI
- ➤ Idaho driver Roland Beres received a toll notice from FasTrak—despite never visiting California—and he challenged the bill when he found the license plate on the notice did not match his car. FasTrak advised him to fill out the contest section on the bill while the DMV confirmed that his driver information was not shared. KIVI
- ➤ Today, civil engineers met at the State Capitol rotunda to announce that Idaho earned a C on the 2025 ASCE Report Card based on nine key infrastructure areas including bridges and roads — improvements driven by strong federal and state investments, while aviation and school facilities remain below standard.
