ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Preliminary data from the Idaho Transportation Department shows that 88 people died during the 100 deadliest days from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with nearly one-quarter being motorcyclists. Jo Middleton, Highway Safety Manager, urged drivers to wear seat belts, drive sober, and slow down—safety measures critical for preventing future tragedies. KBOI

- ➤ The 7th annual Star Chili Cook-off & Brewfest will begin at noon on October 4 at The Star Riverhouse and offer over 20 scratch-cooked recipes along with local beer, cider, a pie-eating contest and a mechanical bull—Joey did a private taste test with the crew. KTVB

- ➤ Researchers at the University of Idaho have measured the state's water use from agriculture as more than 17,000 million gallons per day — with 86% used to irrigate over 3.5 million acres of crops such as potatoes. KTVB

- ➤ ITD continues work on Idaho's first three-level interchange over I-84 as flyover lanes take shape for the Highway 16 Corridor Project. Steel bridges will be installed this winter and spring and the full project is expected to open in 2027 — drilled beams secure the structure. KIVI
- ➤ Idaho lawmakers—Rep. Ilana Rubel, Barbara Ehardt, Josh Tanner, Bruce Skaug, and John Shirts—are in Israel as part of the '50 States—One Israel' campaign to show their support for the country. They planted a tree in a community attacked on 10/7 as a sign of resilience while criticism of Israel's war in Gaza grows. KBOI
- ➤ A coalition of Idaho groups filed a lawsuit with the Idaho Supreme Court yesterday challenging the $50 million parental choice tax credit program for allegedly violating the state constitution—claiming it weakens public school accountability by diverting funds to private schools that lack required transparency. The plaintiffs, which include the Idaho Education Association and others, ask the court to strike down the law, arguing it undermines public education. KTVB
