- ➤ Idaho lawmakers concluded that COVID-19 measures such as closing churches, businesses and issuing stay-at-home orders broke state code and the U.S. Constitution. - ➤ A decades-long debate over land management in Idaho continues as officials weigh the federal government's control of nearly 63% of the land against state endowment lands that support public schools and services—discussions include historical acts and modern revenue plans for long-term use. KTVB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Oct. 1, the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health announced that a record 121 mayors statewide—including 38 from North Idaho—are joining the Mayor's Walking Challenge to earn grant funds by logging 5,000 or 10,000 steps daily in October. Mayors who reach step goals will earn $500 for 165,000 steps or $1,000 for 310,000 steps, with the challenge having returned more than $699,000 to communities over 12 years. KTVB
- ➤ The annual Greater Boise Walk for Breakthrough T1D will be held on October 11 at Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park in Meridian, with check-in beginning at 9 a.m. The 3K walk opening ceremonies will start at 10 a.m. — family activities such as pumpkin painting, face painting, tie-dying and sporting events are planned to support ongoing Type 1 diabetes research and advocacy.
