COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local nonprofit Wish Granters—granting wishes for terminally ill adults—will host its Ladies Day Out event at Proletariat Winery from 2-5 p.m. on October 12 to raise funds and support its mission, and community members can learn how to help at the event.  KTVB
  • A stretch of Hwy 21 north of Grandjean was closed at 7 a.m. today for two days to complete emergency repairs from landslide damage in August — crews are working to reopen the road by 6 p.m. tomorrow. Nampa Parks & Rec is collecting loose leaves at Kohlerlawn Cemetery until December 12th, and the ABBA tribute band performs tonight at the Egyptian Theatre with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.  KIVI
  • Justin Garcia's ALS diagnosis led his friend Sarah Ho to create the ALS Pumpkin Glow event at Shindig Farm—an event that raises awareness and hope for families living with the disease. It will run on Oct. 17 from 4-11 p.m., with the pumpkin glow starting at 7 p.m.  KIVI

CULTURE NEWS

  • JUMP is hosting free 'Sew Scary' costume-making workshops led by Callie Lindsay on October 14, 21, and 28 from 6–8 p.m. in Nampa as part of its Halloween celebration.  KTVB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Nampa City Council approved transferring the Ford Idaho Center to the College of Western Idaho by a vote of 4 to 2 on Monday night—CWI will now handle maintenance and help prevent an estimated tax increase of about 20 to 25 million over the next 15 years while keeping the venue available for events like the Snake River Stampede.  KTVB
  • Crews will close parts of I-84 near the Karcher interchange and Gowen Road nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Tuesday and Friday for bridge repairs and stripe painting—drivers should exit using Exit 57 or Exit 33 to safely re-enter the freeway. The project began in 2024 and includes additional closures with an eastbound lane closed Wednesday and a westbound lane closed Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and it will finish in spring 2026.  KTVB

HEALTH NEWS

  • Newer vehicles in Nampa are starting to use laminated glass on side windows, making the glass hard to break in emergencies and raising safety concerns for drivers who might end up in water—Nampa firefighters note that it takes longer to cut through this glass. Officials advise drivers to check the window stamp to know if the glass is laminated so they can be prepared in a crisis.  KIVI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Idaho's housing market shows high costs as the median home price is about $500,000—requiring roughly 96,154 Big Macs at $5.20 each to purchase a home. Rising wages have not kept pace with these increases, leaving affordability in question even as national trends show a slow decline in the home-to-Big Mac ratio.  KTVB

  • Sofia Huerta, a Centennial High School graduate and Seattle Reign player with over 200 matches, has joined Athletic Club Boise’s ownership group to support local youth. The club is moving toward its planned 2026 debut as stadium benches turn vibrant green & the field takes shape.  KBOI
