COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Humane Society seeks a permanent home for an 8-month-old puppy named Squirt, who recovered from three surgeries on a broken femur and fractured hip after nearly three months of exercise restriction. Squirt rides well in a car, loves playing with other dogs (and his dog friends), and cuddles with people, making him best suited for an adult-only home. KBOI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ International chefs from 12 countries gathered in Canyon County for a reverse trade mission that made Treasure Valley their base earlier this week—learning about local potato growing and new cooking methods. Idaho Press
- ➤ More than 500 miles of the Oregon Trail cuts through southern Idaho, and one of its most dangerous parts was the Snake River crossing at Glenns Ferry where settlers steered their wagons between two safe islands. The Oregon Trail Reserve near Boise now offers hiking and biking while visitors learn about pioneer challenges and updated, historically accurate signage — inspired by local tribal models. KTVB

The 10 women grew the seedlings in a prison greenhouse since May and worked with Idaho Fish and Game, Idaho Department of Corrections, and the Institute for Applied Ecology — local partners keeping the program alive after federal grant cuts threatened its future. GOVERNMENT NEWS
