COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Great Idaho Food Drive is back to help reduce food insecurity in Idaho—donations of foods that do not spoil may be dropped off at Les Schwab and select Albertsons stores. The drive aims to provide up to 15 meals for every five dollars donated and offers critical support to residents facing hunger.  KBOI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today in the neighborhood, Adam Sandler will perform at Ford Idaho Center at 7:30 p.m. as part of his You're My Best Friend Tour—ending on November 1. Mad Swede Brewing will host the Sweet Swede Comedy Open Mic with sign-ups starting at 7 p.m. and shows until 9 p.m., while Payette Brewing holds Kegs 4 Kause from 6 to 10 p.m. to support the American Cancer Society.  KIVI

  • Toby Gad, actress/singer Antonique Smith—TikTok sensation Anthony Gargiula performed a Grammy-winning hit in the Idaho Today studio to inspire students at Idaho Fine Arts Academy. Melissa interviewed the performers to learn how they share their talents with the students.  KTVB
  • Nampa School District is hosting a Coffee and Conversations discussion on the 2025 Replacement Supplemental Levy Tuesday from 7—9 a.m. at 619 S. Canyon St. in Nampa, where local residents can share questions and thoughts on the proposed levy.  Idaho Press

FINANCE NEWS

  • Idaho seniors aged 65 and older will receive an average $6,000 boost in their tax refunds this year under the new 'No Tax on Social Security' provision that applies to those earning $75,000 or less—many will see a larger refund than before. Summit Tax Planning urged seniors to save Social Security paperwork and consult a trusted tax professional—advice meant to help avoid surprises when the deduction varies by income.  KTVB

  • The USDA announced that SNAP benefits will be halted for November, affecting 40 million Americans including over 100,000 Idaho residents. Local neighbors are organizing free food help as a Mountain Home resident already cooks for families in need + others plan to extend assistance.  KIVI

  • Boise State cornerback Jeremiah Earby was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week after recording two interceptions and four solo tackles in the Broncos' 24-3 win over Nevada—this is his first conference honor and the fifth weekly accolade for the team this season.  KBOI
