COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Nampa will transport its 60-foot-tall Christmas tree—donated by Tim and Bonnie Torgerson—to the historic Train Depot on Nov. 3 if the weather holds. Temporary downtown parking restrictions are in place and the tree will be lit at 6 p.m. on Nov. 29 during the Shop Small Saturday event.  KBOI
  • Food banks and volunteer groups in Treasure Valley are preparing for a spike in demand as SNAP benefits will pause on November 1, and an Emmett mother started The Emmett Pantry Project—now with over 110 members—to help fill food requests for local families. The Star Food Bank will continue serving nearby areas with limited space while relying on cash donations for food purchases.  KIVI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Idaho Power has lowered its proposed rate increase to a 7.48% rise on Jan. 1, 2026 & the new settlement will add $110 million to customer rates instead of a 17% hike. A public hearing is set for Nov. 20 in Boise from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. & the final order is expected by the end of December.  KIVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ITD and Idaho State Police offered a free winter driving class at ITD’s District 3 office on October 29 and will hold additional classes on November 12 and November 21 at 7 p.m. to help new and younger drivers learn essential skills for icy road conditions—covering topics like safe driving practices and precautions around snowplows.  KIVI

  • Angie the Pie Lady released her recipe for a pear tarte that lets bakers choose their poaching liquid and pastry while keeping frangipane as the star ingredient—she provides clear steps on poaching pears with Earl Grey tea or wine, preparing the frangipane, and baking the dish until it turns deep golden brown.  KTVB
