Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 1st of November.
Good morning, Nampa.
🏘️ Community
Local food banks saw a 30% rise in demand Friday as the government shutdown left many Idaho families struggling with SNAP benefits and a choice between groceries and rent.
Volunteers and staff in Boise and Meridian are repacking supplies and urging donations to help meet the surge—resources may be needed if the delays continue.
The 74th annual Ski Swap at Expo Idaho draws tens of thousands of buyers for winter gear and runs through Sunday.
Proceeds support the Bogus Basin Ski Education Foundation (40% of its funding comes from the event) to help train young skiers.
🎓 Education
The Nampa School District is asking voters to approve a $16.8M replacement levy that will support classroom programs—like keeping iPads in use and maintaining staffing—and fund building security, transportation, and playground improvements for the next two years.
If the levy fails, district leaders say essential services and programs, including digital learning tools, will be disrupted.
