COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A website and app called JustServe connects volunteers with local organizations as tough economic times and SNAP delays drive more families to seek help. People can search by need area—such as food pantries or meal services—to find local chances to give back. KTVB
- ➤ The Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa hosted 1,000 veterans, their families and local residents at its annual Veterans Breakfast on Saturday— the meal honored military service and provided a chance to bring the community together. Idaho Press
- ➤ Today, Sunrise Cafe in Middleton is hosting a dinner at 6 p.m. for SNAP recipients after benefits were paused—downtown, Nampa’s 60-ft Christmas tree is arriving with temporary parking on 14th Ave. South between 11 a.m. and noon. Boise State Basketball is playing a home opener against Hawai'i Pacific at 7 p.m. at ExtraMile Arena. KIVI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ An Idaho Fish and Game technician encountered an adult mountain lion and two juveniles while investigating a mule deer's death earlier this month+ she filmed the incident to show safe methods for backing away when faced with the animal. The encounter highlights the rare but risky nature of such wildlife interactions in the Southwest Region. KBOI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A section of North Middleton Road between Chacartegui Lane and West Hemingway Boulevard will be closed from Nov. 10 to Nov. 13 for emergency repairs on a railroad crossing—traffic will be detoured onto Midland Boulevard at the Karcher Bypass. The southbound turn lane will also be closed for a water valve replacement and is expected to reopen in early December. KTVB
- ➤ City crews cut down a nearly 60-foot evergreen from Bonnie and Tim Torgerson's yard after the city's forester found it violated code by blocking visibility (the family was already planning to remove it). The tree was moved downtown for use as this year's Christmas tree with a lighting ceremony scheduled for November 29 (after which it will be turned into mulch). KIVI
- ➤ The Idaho Transportation Department announced that Franklin Road from Star to McDermott will close nightly between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. starting Saturday, Nov. 8th — detours will follow Cherry Lane until the new SH-16 corridor interchange opens in 2027. KBOI
