GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Annette Tipton was named as the new executive director of the Commission of Hispanic Affairs by Governor Brad Little in May after nearly three decades under her predecessor, Margie Gonzalez. Tipton, a native of Nampa who worked in banking and community organizations, has begun meeting staff to learn the commission’s operations—she plans to boost outreach for the state’s Hispanic community. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Boise State’s men’s basketball team added Rayzhon Bergersen on Tuesday as he signed to continue his college career; the Boise native played 38 games at Northwest Nazarene with averages of 4.0 points, 1.2 assists and 2.0 rebounds. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining—his father Roberto Bergersen, a former star at Boise State, now serves as an assistant coach for the Broncos. KTVB
- ➤ The Boise State football schedule now shows three games moved to Friday for national TV broadcasts—the home opener against Eastern Washington is set for Friday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. on FS1 while road games with Nevada and Utah State have also moved to Friday, and the championship game will air on FOX. - ➤ Cole Calnon and Ernesto Lugo-Canchola earned All-American honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association during NNU’s historic postseason run—recognizing their standout play as the team advanced in the playoffs. KTVB
